Temporary Skill Shortage Visa Subclass 482

Short-term stream
This is a temporary visa that allows an employer to address labour shortage by sponsoring skilled workers when they cannot find an appropriately skilled Australian worker.

Features

  • Study without government assistance
  • Can work in Australia for your sponsor for up to 2 years or work for 4 years if an International Trade obligation applies, or work up to 5 years (only Hong Kong passport holder)
  • travel outside and return to Australia as many times as you want till the validity of visa.
  • Apply for permanent residence, if applicable
Eligibility

  • Must hold a substantive visa or a Bridging Visa A,Bridging Visa B, or Bridging Visa C.
  • Must have complied with conditions with previous substantive or bridging visa held
  • Must have relevant skills, qualifications, and work experience to perform the occupation.
  • must have at least 2 years of work experience in the nominated occupation and related field
  • must have a positive skill assessment.
  • must have health insurance
  • must meet health and character requirements.
  • must be a genuine entrant.
  • must not pay for sponsorship.
  • must have a competent level in the English language.
  • must not have a cancelled visa or a previously refused application.
  • must sign Australian Values Statement

The Process

  • Nomination application will be submitted by the approved employer.
  • Your occupation should be specified on the Short-term Skilled Occupation list.
  • You have to submit a positive skill assessment
  • You must be employed in the nominated occupation in the sponsor’s business or associated business entity.

Employer must have

  • Must  be or have applied to become a Standard Business Sponsor
  • Must pay an annual salary of less than AUD 250,000 or as per the annual market salary rate (AMSR)
  • Must not involve in a discriminatory recruitment process.
  • Must provide employment conditions equivalent to Australian Workers
  • Must not provide adverse information about the business or person associated with the business.
Can I apply in Australia or Overseas?
You can be in or outside Australia when you apply for the visa and when the decision is made on your application by the department but not in immigration clearance.

You can travel out of Australia and return as many times as you want while the visa is valid.

Employer Nomination Scheme Visa Subclass 186

Direct entry stream
This visa is a permanent visa that allows skilled workers, who are nominated by employers, to live and work in Australia.

Features

  • You can stay in Australia permanently
  • You can study and work in Australia
  • You can enrol in the public health scheme of Australia.
  • You can sponsor your eligible relatives to Australia
  • You can travel from and to Australia for 5 years
  • If you are eligible, you can apply for citizenship
Eligibility

  • You must have an eligible occupation
  • You must have at least 3 years of work experience in your occupation
  • If it is mandatory in the state or territory you intended to work in, you must be licensed, registered or a member of a professional body.
  • You must have a skill assessment to show your qualifications.
  • An Australian employer must nominate you.
  • You must be under the age of 45 years
  • You must meet health and character requirements.
  • You must be competent in English
  • You must not have had a visa cancelled or a refused application previously

The Process

  • Nomination by an Australian employer
  • You need to apply for the visa within 6 months after the nomination is approved.
  • You must have a skill assessment to show your qualification and work experience
  • Your occupation must be registered on the occupation list.

Occupation
Your occupation must be on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations.
You must have a skills assessment that shows you have the skills and qualifications to work in that occupation.

Employer Must Have

  • Business must have a genuine need for employees to fill a skilled position.
  • Business must have complied with workplace relations laws and Australian immigration
  • Business must pay the Skilling Australians Fund when they apply for employer nomination.
  • Business must pay AUD 250,000 a year or pay them at least an annual market salary rate.

Can I Apply in Australia or Overseas?
You can be in or outside Australia when you are applying for this visa. If you are in Australia, you must hold a substantive visa or a related Bridging visa A, B or C. When Department decide on your application, you can be in or outside Australia.

Your obligations
You and your family members must comply with Australian laws and your visa conditions.
You must agree to begin your employment within 6 months of the visa grant date if you are in Australia or entry to Australia if you were outside Australia when the visa is granted.

Travel
You can travel in and out of Australia as many times as you want for five years after the visa is granted.

Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) Labour Agreement stream
This is a permanent visa that lets skilled workers who are nominated by their employers live and work in Australia. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​You must currently work or will work under a labour agreement for your employer. You must meet certain visa requirements. This is a permanent visa. The department fee is AUD 4,240* for the main applicant.
Processing time is up to 6 months.

Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 189) Temporary Residence Transition Scheme
This visa is a permanent visa that lets skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer, live and work in Australia. You must hold a subclass 457, TSS or related Bridging visa A, B or C. You must meet certain visa requirements This is a permanent visa Its department fee is from AUD 4,240* for the main applicant. Processing Time is 28 Months

When employers cannot source skilled Australian workers appropriately, under this visa, regional employers can sponsor skilled workers to overcome the labour shortage in their region.

  • Live, work and study only in designated regional areas of Australia for 5 years
  • Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want during the validity of the visa.
  • Apply for permanent residence after 3 years of granting this visa, if you are eligible
  • Eligibility

    • must be nominated by an employer for this visa.
    • must have relevant work experience in their occupation of at least 3 years
    • must have a positive skill assessment.
    • must be under the age of 45.
    • must have a competent level of English Language
    • must meet health and character requirements.
    • must not have a cancelled visa or a refused previous application.
    • must have paid your debt to the Australian Government

The Process

  • you must be nominated by an Australian employer
  • you must apply within 6 months for the visa after the nomination is approved.
  • you must have a positive skill assessment to show your skills to work in the nominated occupation.
  • you must be licensed, registered or a member of a professional body.
