Parent Visa (Temporary) Subclass 103

This is a permanent visa that allows the parent of an Australian citizen, permanent resident of a citizen, or eligible citizen of New Zealand to move to Australia.

Features

  • This allows one to stay for an indefinite period in Australia.
  • You can do work and study in Australia
  • You can enrol in the Public health scheme of Australia
  • You can sponsor your relatives to Australia
  • If you are eligible, you can apply to Australian Citizenship
  • You can travel from and to Australia for 5 years as many times as you want.
Eligibility

  • You must have an eligible sponsor.
  • You cannot apply for this visa if you have already applied or are the holder of a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) subclass 870 visa.
  • You must meet the balance of the family test.
  • You must have health insurance.
  • You must be able to get assurance of support
  • You must meet health and character requirements
  • You must not have a cancelled visa or a refused application previously
  • You must sign the Australian values statement

The Process

    • You must be sponsored by your eligible child or your relative who is residing in Australia
    • You can apply as a retiree. If on 8 May 2018, you held or had previously held an Investor retirement (subclass 405 or 410) visa or do not have a substantive visa between 8 May 2018 and the date when you applied for the Parent visa.
    • You must meet certain eligibility criteria

While applying for this visa, you can be inside or outside Australia but you should not be in immigration clearance. When you are applying for this visa if you are in Australia, then any family members who apply must be inside Australia. When you are applying for this visa if you are out of Australia, then any family members who apply must be outside Australia.

Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 143

This is a permanent visa that allows the parent of an Australian citizen, permanent resident of a citizen, or eligible citizen of New Zealand to move to Australia.

  • You can do work and study in Australia
  • You can enrol in the Public health scheme of Australia
  • You can sponsor your relatives to Australia
  • If you are eligible, you can apply to Australian Citizenship
  • You can travel from and to Australia for 5 years as many times as you want.
Eligibility

  • You must have an eligible sponsor. If your sponsor dies, you can apply for this visa, if you hold a Temporary Contributory Parent (Subclass 173).
  • You cannot apply for this visa if you have already applied or are the holder of a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) subclass 870 visa.
  • You must meet the balance of the family test.
  • You must have health insurance.
  • You must be able to get assurance of support
  • You must meet health and character requirements
  • You must not have a cancelled visa or a refused application previously
  • You must sign the Australian values statement

The Process

  • You must be sponsored by your eligible child or your relative who is residing in Australia
  • You can apply as a retiree. If on 8 May 2018, you held or had previously held an Investor retirement (subclass 405 or 410) visa or do not have a substantive visa between 8 May 2018 and the date when you applied for the Parent visa
